Her Presence in Colours IX- International Women Artists Exhibition-USA 2010
(International participants)

 

Objectives:

  1. To foster the awareness women¡¯s art as this awareness is necessary for the reappraisal of the contribution of the women artists in art.

  2. To provide a platform for women artists of various cultural backgrounds to exhibit their works together under one roof so as to foster goodwill and international friendship.

  3. To encourage women artists to express their innermost feelings and thoughts through visual art form for the enhancement of our cultural life. 

 

1. Theme: ¡®Reflection on Oneself: Self-portrait' The art works do not have to be   literally self-portraits, however, they need to reflect thought processes of the artist. 

 

2. Date:  Aug 3¨CAug 15, 2010 
Opening ceremony:  Aug 6 ( Friday)  at 6£º30 pm 

*International Participants will arrive on the 1st August and their work will be hung on the 3rd August, they can take their work back after August 9 )

5. Art Seminar :

Seminar Topic: ¡°Art Made out of Desperate Need¡±
to be presented by the president, chairperson of women¡¯s art organizations who are also researcher and professor in women¡¯s art. (The organizer will choose from the abstracts submitted only 8 presenters). The time for their presentation will only be 30 mins only and this may/may not include translator.  Total time should not exceed longer than 30 mins.

 

6£®Artwork:

Artists are required to submit an artwork that reflects a concept or thoughts related to the theme: One piece of artwork per artist in any media.

Dimensions of artwork not to exceed 36inches x 36 inches (including frame)

 

7. Framing and hanging requirements:

Participants from outside USA can choose from the following options:

Artists are responsible to make their own framing. All artworks submitted must be properly framed.  Works on paper use plexi sheet or Perspex and a strong wire attached. Please avoid glass.

 

8. Insurance of artworks:

The cost for insurance of artwork is borned by the individual artist.

Participating artists will have to organize insurance for the time that their artworks are traveling to and from USA, as the organizers can not be responsible for any loss or damage to artworks traveling to or from the exhibition venue.

 

9. Publication-

A full-colour catalogue will be produced to accompany this art exhibition. The catalogue will feature all the participants of the exhibition.  As the printing cost has been increase due to the world economic crisis, we have decided to reduce the number of pages to two artists sharing one page in the catalogue. Each artist will have a self photo, artwork and text- biography with short statement (about 150 words or about 10 lines). The artist¡¯s statement is optional .

 

Each artist will receive two copies of the catalogue.

 

10. Registration fee:

200 US for each participant, to be paid on or before March 12, 2009. Any extra charge for bank transfer have to be borne by the individual artist.

11. Submission of Artist Form and Registration materials:

Each participating artist is required to complete the Artist Form and then submit the Form together with the required registration materials on or before  March 12, 2009 to:

Please ensure you have:-

Completed the confirmation statement.

Completed the artist's profile/biography in English ¨C maximum 150 words.

Completed the ARTIST FORM.

Artist self photo (about 500 KB)

Payment for the registration fee in the form of Cheque/Bankdraft/Proof of payment through Bank transfer. Payment via bank transfer required a transfer charge, please settled you transfer charge.  Please add US$20 for the bank transfer charge.

12. Dateline for Submission of the Image of artwork
The dateline for submission of a digital image of artwork (self Portrait) is
June 1, 2009. In order to ensure a high quality catalogue, the image you provide should be of high quality with high resolution no less than 2 MB.  Please state: Title,  Dimension and medium of your artwork.

 

We prefer image of artwork taken by a professional photographer.

 

13. Transport of artwork:

(a) Each participating artist is responsible for the transportation of her work to and from the following venue:

All artworks must arrive by August 1, 2010.

The artist will carry their work with them but must arrive at USA on or before 1 August 2008

 

Should it be shipped, the artist/participant will be responsible for its shipping on her own.  Many UPS and post office arrangements can happen. The cost of transportation, including travel insurance to and from USA must be borne by the individual artists.

 

14. Sale of artwork

If you wish to sell your work, please indicate a price for your artwork. A commission of 30 % of the selling price will be charge on the sale of artwork.

You are advice not to put any price at the back of your artwork when you are traveling or sending you work so as to avoid tax problem.

 

15. Accommodation (for overseas participants only)

For those who are traveling to Portland and is looking for a convenience hostel to stay, please commit by signing the accommodation slit (FORM B) together with the payment for 8 days accommodation (Aug 1 to Aug 7, 2010 )

Amount: US$175 ($25x7days=US$175)

 

Housing is 2 blocks from the Littman Gallery.

$25 per night per person (in a room for 2). Rooms are in a dormitory.  There are desks/kitchen/bath and shower.   

 

You are advised to pay the hostel fee (US$175) together with the registration fee (US$200) by bank transfer in one time, so that you only pay one time the transfer charge . 

Please make the transfer amount payable to Yuen Chee Ling¡¯s account as stated in item 10.

 

The artist will be informed If there is any loss in foreign exchange rate.

 

16. Agreement
The organizers reserve the right to reproduce any work submitted for educational research, publication and promotional purposes.

The organizers reserve the rights to reject any work that deem offensive on religious, national or racial grounds or representing any other form of discrimination and offence to morality or human rights and any work by participants not in accordance with the theme of the exhibition will not be displayed at the exhibition.
