Born in New York on Oct 31, 1971, Carin grew up in a Chinese family
that embraces art and travel. Carin completed her BA degree at the
National Taiwan University in Taipei, Taiwan; MFA at the Academy of
Art University in San Francisco, USA; Ed. D. at La Sierra University
in Los Angeles, USA. She is an Assistant Professor at the Dept. of
Digital Media Design, Ming Chuan University, Taoyuan, Taiwan as well
as the founder of ICI Art Gallery.
Carin started painting at age four. Her first formal solo oil
painting exhibition was held in the San Francisco Library in 1998.
Carin is interested in abstract painting as well as female
figurative painting and has traveled and exhibited around the world. Inspired by her dreams, Carin’s “Pansy Face” series
include traditional oil painting as well as fashion photographs of
females as sources of creation in a deconstructive style. In Carin’s
dream, pansies make women goddesses to men. Pansies have also
symbolized silence and longing in folkloric language of flowers.
Thus Carin's fascination with pansies reflects her desire and
craving to love and to be loved. Carin
is sharp capturing the special sentiment of women. These women in
her paintings and digital art, whether realistic or abstract, with
heavy strokes or thin layers, all possess a mystical tenderness.
Under her sensitive paint brushes and camera, the images represent
dream and beauty. Carin finds peace and her deep burried passion in
art bring to life the world’s dreams, happiness, doubt, humor,
sarcasm, love, and truth.
