Eighteen Arhats Mountain

In this picture, lines spread out smoothly yet strongly from the frame. Those graceful lines clearly depict the inner contradiction in a woman who is not understood. This is a story about contradiction, a need to protect or to be protected, and a person to be understandable or aloof. Another point of the picture is the colours, dark indigo surrounds the woman, like an opened protective umbrella guarding the puppies behind her; and shapeless leaves painted by wilting color outlined violently by the blue sky.

Shou’s work left nothing but solitude. Time is stopped for good in the solitude of the picture; the timeless reception makes viewers located in a universe, in which viewers are sensitive to any tiny intentions from the artist.
