Women Art Exhibition -2007

A Two Venues Exhibition
Venue 1 : Galeri Art Point, Penang Date: 3 – 28  March  2007
Venue 2-  Shan’s Art Gallery Exhibition Date:  18 -28 April

An Art Exhibition entitled: “ Woman by Women”  featuring the selected artworks of Malaysian women artists  will be held  at Galeri Art Point, Penang from 3th March  to 28^th March  to celebrate  the International Women's Day (8 March) and to launch the establishment the Art and Culture Bureau  of the Women Development Organization (WDO).

The exhibition is jointly presented by The Women Development Organization of Malaysia (WDO) and Conservatory of Fine Arts. The aims are to foster the awareness of women’s art and to provide  an access to the voice of Malaysian women artists on this special occasion in an effort to encourage women to express their honest self through art.

The official opening of the above exhibition  will be held 3 March 2007 at 5 pm by Datin Paduka Dr. Tan Yee Kew, Setia Usaha Parlimen, kementerian Perdgangan Antara Bangsa dan Industri  
 

 The exhibits are the selected paintings by 11 leading and emerging Malaysian female artists, namely Yuen Chee Ling,  Siti Mariah Jackson, Elsie Lee,  Joy Wu,  Yoon Sook Fong,  Chiou Ling Chyi, Lee Hui Lan, Zuzila Zain, Nurhayati Md. Yusoff  Loo Min Wei and Teh Ee Ming

 Their works that focus on women as the subject reflects the innermost sensibilities and thoughts of the individual women artists and  the female consciousness related to life, art and aesthetics.

The exhibition also coincides with the launch of publication:  ““WOMAN BY WOMEN” with a write-up by Yuen Chee Ling, President of the International Women Artists Council who is also a Phd researcher on women art .

Launching of WDO Culture and Art Bureau

a) Large Painting On the spot
“Women’s Art towards Peace, Harmony and Unity”.

The launching of the WDO Culture and Art Bureau on 3 March at Gallery Art Point Penang will be highlighted with a special event. The aim is to encourage a cooperative spirit amongst the women through creativity and to celebrate the International Women’s Day. The theme of this large size painting is – “Women’s Art towards Peace, Harmony and Unity”.

马来西亚婦女发展机构，槟榔艺术学院联合主办 的 [女人画女人] 展出女画家以女人为主题的画作。11位本地女性艺术创作者藉由畫筆展現豐富多采的內心世界。女性通过艺术手法所创造出来的形象，反映女性潜在意识里对自我生命价值的反省和女性对大环境的理解和关怀。

[女人画女人] 展出11位女画家的精心杰作。我国不同传统文化背景的女画家的作品内涵和画风复杂多元， 体现马来西亚艺术的多元文化和女性生命的丰采與自信。

- 作者-源子玲， 槟榔艺术学院院长兼世界女艺术家理事会长，1999年进理大攻博士，完成博士论文-[马拉西亚女画家所描绘的女人形象]。

2) 文化艺术局推介礼-
女姓集體创作大幅画 – “女性艺术迈向和平、和谐及团结 “
大马婦女发展机构为了加强妇女对女性课题的醒觉性以及鼓励女性发展自身的艺术才华和自信，设立文化艺术局，并在开幕当天举行文化艺术局推介礼, 特邀30 位各族女画友集體完成一幅7尺大画, 結合女人團結合作的精神，完成大幅創作，展现女性对生命，艺术和美的感知覺。
